Sailing yacht charter in Croatia is the thriftiest route to seven days afloat with a professional skipper. The Central Dalmatian archipelago could have been drawn for it: long islands keep the open-sea swell outside, and the afternoon maestral arrives with remarkable regularity. Sunbathe all day, or take turns on the wheel.

Two yachts are offered. The Bavaria C45 stands out for an unusually wide stern and a big twin-wheel cockpit where two families sit down to dinner with ease. The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 440 collected prizes for her clever deck: angled walkways along each side lead you forward to a sunbathing pad on the bow.

Each has four cabins, room for ten and a folding transom step for swimming. The Bavaria edges it on cockpit space, the Jeanneau on getting around and on performance, so the choice usually comes down to the character of your group.

Where you go

You sail from Split or Kaštela. The weekly loop rounds Šolta, Brač, Hvar and Vis, stretching to Korčula when the wind is kind, with nights split between marinas and anchorages. On a one-day outing the Jeanneau can make Šolta or the famous Zlatni Rat spit.

Marinas

  • ACI Marina Split
  • ACI Marina Trogir
  • Marina Kaštela
  • Marina Agana

When to go

Sailing is possible from May through October. June and September shine for sail, with reliable wind, warm sea and fewer yachts at the anchorages; July and August push the water to 25–26 °C but also bring the biggest crowds. Changeover is usually Saturday.

Sailing yacht charter in Croatia: FAQ

What separates the Bavaria C45 from the Sun Odyssey 440?

The Bavaria has a broader stern and a bigger cockpit. The Jeanneau scores with easy side decks and a bow sunpad. Capacity matches: four cabins and ten guests.

Will we have to handle the sails?

No, the skipper copes single-handed. If you wish, he will explain sail trim and how to hold a heading.

Where are the nights spent?

Sometimes in a marina, sometimes anchored in a cove, sometimes on a buoy outside a seaside restaurant. The skipper suggests spots pleasant for both dinner and sleep.
