YachtCharterMatch

Booking and cancellation information

YachtCharterMatch is a matching service, not a charter operator. This page explains, in plain language, how a request becomes a booking and whose terms apply at each step. The binding terms for any charter are the ones in the written offer and contract from the yacht owner or operator.

From request to booking

When you send a request through our website, we pass your requirements to local licensed charter companies and yacht owners, check availability and send you suitable options with prices and terms by your preferred messenger, phone or email.

A request is not a booking. Sending it does not reserve a yacht, hold a date or create any obligation for you. A booking is confirmed only after you accept a written offer from the operator and pay the deposit the operator requires. Until then, the yacht can be booked by someone else.

The role of the yacht owner or operator

The charter contract is between you and the yacht owner or operator, not with YachtCharterMatch. The operator provides the yacht, the captain and crew, and is responsible for the charter itself, including safety, licensing and the services listed in the offer.

Every yacht we offer comes with a professional captain. The captain is in command of the vessel, decides on the route and can refuse or end a trip when safety requires it. The maximum number of passengers is set by the yacht's licence and cannot be exceeded.

Prices, deposits and balance payments

Prices on our website are indicative market “from” prices in EUR. The final price, currency, inclusions and extras are those stated in the operator's offer. Quotes may be in the operator's currency, such as EUR, USD, AED or THB.

The deposit amount, the date the balance is due, accepted payment methods and any refundable security deposit are set by the operator and stated in the offer or contract. Payments are made to the operator. Our website does not process payments, and we will not ask you to pay us for a charter through the site.

Cancellation by you

If you need to cancel a confirmed booking, the operator's cancellation policy applies. It usually depends on how far in advance you cancel: the closer to the charter date, the smaller the refund, if any.

Please read the cancellation terms in the offer before paying a deposit. If something is unclear, ask us before you confirm and we will check the wording with the operator.

Weather and safety cancellations

The captain or the port authority may delay, shorten, re-route or cancel a trip because of weather, sea conditions or other safety reasons. These decisions are made for the safety of guests and crew and are final.

What happens next, such as a new date, a partial or full refund, or a credit, depends on the operator's weather policy as stated in the offer or contract. Operators typically offer a new date or a refund when they cancel for weather, but terms vary.

Changes to a booking

Requests to change the date, duration, route, number of guests or extras after confirmation depend on the operator's availability and terms, and may change the price. Send change requests as early as possible; we will pass them on and relay the operator's answer.

What we do and do not do

We collect your requirements, contact operators, check availability, send you options with prices and terms, and help with questions before and after you confirm. Matching is free for you.

We do not own or operate yachts, do not employ captains or crew, do not take payments, and cannot guarantee availability, prices or the operator's performance. We do not confirm bookings on the operator's behalf; confirmation always comes from the operator after the deposit is paid.
