The Seychelles are an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, and for sailing the Inner Islands matter most: Mahé, Praslin, La Digue and dozens of smaller islets around them. Distances are short, usually two to four hours between anchorages, and the granite islands with boulder-framed beaches look like nowhere else on earth.

The main format is a week-long cruise on a sailing catamaran with a skipper, sometimes with a host or cook. Yachts are based on Eden Island near Victoria and on Praslin. A typical day means a morning passage, a snorkel stop, lunch at anchor off an empty beach and an evening in a quiet bay. Day trips from Mahé to Sainte Anne Marine National Park are also available.

The Seychelles appeal to couples and honeymooners, families with older children and groups of friends who love nature: tortoises, bird reserves and reefs. There are many protected marine parks, and your skipper knows where anchoring is allowed and which fees apply. It is calm, unhurried sailing with no crowds and no party scene.

Yacht charter in the Seychelles: FAQ

How much is a catamaran charter in the Seychelles and what is included?

Indicatively from €1,000 for a day trip and from €5,000 per week on a skippered yacht. A weekly charter usually covers the yacht, skipper and basic equipment; food, fuel, a host, marine park fees and mooring are often extra. All of this is set out in your quote.

Do I need a licence to charter a yacht?

Not when you charter with a skipper, which is how all our listings work. The skipper knows marine park rules and where anchoring is permitted.

When is the best season for sailing in the Seychelles?

April–May and October–November bring the calmest seas. Summer is windier, which sailors enjoy, but passages can be livelier.

Can we bring children and what should we pack?

Yes, a catamaran works well for families. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, rash guards, a soft bag instead of a suitcase and seasickness remedies. Ask for children's life jackets in advance.

How do I book and what happens in bad weather?

A deposit is usually required to confirm, with the balance due before the charter. If weather affects the route, the skipper switches to a more sheltered plan; rescheduling and refund policies vary by yacht and are confirmed in the quote.
