Sailing yacht charter in Montenegro

Just wind, mountains and little churches along the shore: the bay looks entirely different under sail.

Sailing yacht charter in Montenegro reveals a side of Boka Kotorska you never catch from a speedboat. The engine falls silent, leaving the hiss of water, mountains overhead, Perast and the old churches dotted along the shore.

At 12.4 metres the Bavaria Cruiser 41 is a no-drama, middleweight boat, just right for getting to know the bay at an easy pace. Eight people settle comfortably under the cockpit bimini, each of the twin steering stations has its own view, and a step at the stern lets you slide into the water. The skipper is in charge, yet anyone curious is welcome to steer.

With three cabins she works for a handful of couples or a small family wanting several nights afloat. Budget-wise it is about the gentlest way to go cruising along the Montenegrin shore: wind-driven miles and swims by day, grilled fish and local wine at a quayside konoba after dark.

Where you go

Marinas

  • Porto Montenegro (Tivat)
  • Marina Budva
  • Port of Kotor
  • Portonovi (Herceg Novi)

When to go

June to September is the time to go, with water at 24–26 °C. Inside the bay the breeze is generally lighter than offshore, so for livelier sailing the skipper may take you towards the bay's mouth. The minimum is normally four hours.

Sailing yacht charter in Montenegro: FAQ

Is there enough wind in the bay?

Inside Boka the breeze can be light, especially in the morning. For proper sailing the skipper heads towards the mouth of the bay; in a flat calm part of the trip is done under engine.

How many does the Bavaria Cruiser 41 take?

Eight guests on a day sail. For a week, the three cabins suit two or three couples or a family.

Is it right for people who have never sailed?

Yes. The skipper handles everything and will explain the basics if you are curious, and the bay's sheltered water is exactly what a first-timer needs.
