Catamaran charter on the French Riviera is a sensible choice in the capital of superyachts. While fast motorboats buzz around Monaco and Cannes, the Lagoon 46 takes its time and offers what families and bigger groups value: stability, shade and generous deck space. Anchored in the channel between the Lérins Islands or in a Cap Ferrat cove, she barely moves.

The Lagoon 46 measures 14 metres. The flybridge holds the helm and lounging seats with a view along the coast, the bow has a trampoline for sunbathing, and a tender, paddleboard and snorkelling kit come as standard. Four en-suite cabins turn her from a day boat into a home on the water.

Up to 12 guests can join for the day, and up to eight live aboard on a weekly charter. The skipper and host cook on board and run guests by tender to the Pampelonne restaurants. Even in a mistral the catamaran stays steady when the captain picks the right anchorage, which is why people wary of seasickness often choose one.

Where you go

Day sails usually start in Cannes or Antibes, with the channel between Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat the classic swim stop. From Nice the catamaran heads to Villefranche and the Cap Ferrat coves. A week runs Antibes, the Lérins Islands, Saint-Tropez and the Hyères Islands including Porquerolles.

  • Cannes Vieux Port
  • Antibes Port Vauban
  • Monaco Port Hercule

When to go

The season runs May to September. For families June and September are easiest, with warm sea and emptier bays. In July and August the catamaran earns its keep with shade and space, but anchorages off Pampelonne and the Lérins fill up, so head out early.

Catamaran charter on the French Riviera: FAQ

Is a catamaran good for children?

It is probably the best family boat on the Riviera: a wide deck, bow netting and almost no rolling at anchor. Children's life jackets are carried, but tell us their sizes in advance.

Can we have lunch at a restaurant ashore?

Yes, the tender drops you at the Pampelonne restaurants or on Sainte-Marguerite. Book tables ahead in season — or eat on board, as the host cooks.

What if the mistral blows?

The captain moves to sheltered bays, usually east of Cannes, where the wind is lighter. If the forecast is poor, the trip is moved under the terms of your offer.
