A motor yacht charter in Marbella nearly always revolves around Puerto Banús: gliding out past the superyachts, an easy run along the Golden Mile and its villas and beach clubs, a swim at anchor, then back to the port for dinner. On an open coast with no islands, an engine really earns its keep, carrying you quickly offshore where dolphins often turn up, or west towards Estepona.

The choice is broad. The 21-metre Sunseeker Predator 68 heads the line-up with its sports hull, sliding roof, tender garage, jet ski on request and crew cabin, and is chartered for showpiece celebrations and corporate hospitality. The 19-metre Azimut 62 is a flybridge with a bow lounge, air conditioning and snorkelling gear, well suited to family occasions and long days afloat. The 18.3-metre Princess V58, with its open cockpit and paddleboards, is a favourite for dolphin-spotting mornings. The 15.6-metre Pershing 50 hits around 40 knots and is built for short, punchy outings for two or a beach-club stop.

Minimums are usually three hours on the Princess V58 and Pershing 50, and four on the Predator 68 and Azimut 62. The Levante and Poniente winds that funnel through the Strait of Gibraltar shape the sea state, so your captain sets the timing and direction from the forecast.

Where you go

Puerto Banús is the main base, with departures also from Marbella Port, Estepona and Benalmádena. The classics are three hours along the Golden Mile to Marbella town, a morning run offshore in search of dolphins, and a full day west to Estepona for lunch in the harbour.

When to go

The season is April to October, peaking in high summer, when Puerto Banús books up early. Mornings are usually calmer and better for dolphins, while an evening cruise is the one for sunset along the Golden Mile.

Motor yacht charter in Marbella: FAQ

Will we see dolphins?

There is a fair chance, especially in the morning, as dolphins are regularly seen here. Nobody can guarantee a sighting, though, so treat it as a bonus. The Princess V58 is a handy boat for that kind of trip.

Which yacht suits corporate hospitality?

Usually the Predator 68 or the Azimut 62: both have air conditioning and room for 12, and the Predator makes quite an entrance on the quay. Their minimum is typically four hours.

Can we keep the yacht for several days?

Yes, the Princess V58 and Azimut 62 are also offered by the week. The captain shapes a Costa del Sol route around the wind.

Is Gibraltar visible from the boat?

On a clear day the Rock is easy to make out from the water, and in excellent visibility so are the Rif mountains in Morocco. Your best chance is a full day heading west to Estepona.
