Gulet charter in Fethiye & Göcek is the area's calling card, and for good reason: an island-sheltered gulf suits a heavy timber vessel that has nowhere to hurry. Weigh anchor after breakfast, reach a fresh cove an hour later, and quite possibly stay put until dusk.

Option one is a traditionally styled 24-metre gulet with five air-cooled cabins, each with its own shower. Aft there is a shared dining table beneath canvas, forward a spread of sunbathing mattresses, and a kayak and masks for idle moments. Four sailors run the household, the cook spoils guests with Turkish breakfasts and grilled fish, and eighteen can join a day outing.

Option two is a 34-metre flagship: lofty cabins with big windows, a separate owner's apartment, a lounge at the stern and a seemingly endless foredeck. Six crew, chef and steward included, operate like a boutique hotel, while the tender, SUPs and kayaks liven up every anchorage. Twenty may come aboard for the day.

Where you go

Göcek departures head to Yassıca, Tersane and Hamam Bay with its 'Cleopatra's Bath', while Fethiye departures make for St Nicholas (Gemiler) Island and the Ölüdeniz lagoon. A Lycian week pushes east, beyond Kalkan and Kaş, to the submerged ruins at Kekova and the castle at Simena.

  • Ece Marina (Fethiye)

When to go

For a week's voyage the last days of May, June and September are ideal: the sea is warm, the coves roomy and the heat bearable. July and August are the hottest and most in-demand weeks, and gulets for them are snapped up long before. Plan a Göcek islands outing from morning to evening.

Gulet charter in Fethiye & Göcek: FAQ

Which of the two gulets suits us?

The 24-metre boat is a warm five-cabin classic for families and friends. The 34-metre one offers six generous cabins including an owner's apartment, six crew and near-hotel service.

Do children enjoy gulet holidays?

Very much: Göcek barely has a ripple, legs are short and kids jump in off the stern. The cook happily prepares a separate children's menu if warned beforehand.

Could we embark on the day we land?

Yes. Dalaman Airport is a 20 to 30 minute drive from Göcek, so moving aboard on arrival day is common practice.
